Kristin Chenoweth (Schmigadoon!), Kenny Ortega (Julie and the Phantoms) and producers Alan Powell, Steve Barnett and Vicky Patel of Monarch Media are teaming for the docuseries 1300 Miles to Broadway. Inspired by Chenoweth’s Broadway Bootcamp, the series introduces 8th to 12th graders to the world of performing arts through master classes in acting, singing and dancing, and goes on the emotional journey with them as they prepare for a future as performers.

Now, Tyler Hanes who grew up in Marietta is back home for the new Irving Berlin musical "Holiday Inn." Tyler stops by Good Day Atlanta to update on his career and has more on the upcoming show at the Byers Theatre at the Sandy Springs Performing Arts Center.

I first met Tyler years and years ago when he was making his Broadway debut in "Oklahoma!" and I have been creepily stalking his career ever since. Since then he's stacked up 8 more Broadway credits including "Hairspray," "The Boy From Oz," "A Chorus Line," and Gaby in "On the Town." He is currently starring as Rum Tum Tugger in "Cats" and he is sooooooooo good n the role! And more. It was SUCH a thrill to catch up with him. Enjoy!

He's the Mick Jagger of the Jellicle tribe. He's a fickle feline who'd rather have a grouse if you offer him a pheasant. He's Rum Tum Tugger — and he's been given the rock star treatment by triple threat Tyler Hanes since the revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber's CATS opened on Broadway in the summer of 2016. The musical, which ran for a record-breaking 18 years it's first time around, plays it's final performance at the Neil Simon Theatre on December 30. That means Hanes has only a few more jaunts around the junkyard in his skin-tight body suit and unwieldy fur collar, which, despite some costuming snafus, have marked a joyful era in his performance career. He may never beat Grizabella to the Heaviside Layer, but, he's pledged his faith to the fraternity of Rum Tum Tuggers — and that bond of brotherhood is now and forever.

Tyler Hanes stars as Rum Tum Tugger in the first Broadway revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber's iconic musical Cats. He opened the show at the Neil Simon Theatre in July 2016 and remains one of the revival's only original cast members still serving 100% at the Jellicle Ball. BroadwayBox spoke with the triple-threat performer about how he created his own Tugger, his own backstory, and the famous touchstones that inspired him.
